What and Where                                                          Top

Held in Autumn and early Spring each year, this is probably the most important trade show for the Gift/Souvenir trade in Wales. Many of the exhibitors  have shown their products to Tourist operators every year since the show was started over a decade ago, and come here from all over the UK and Ireland, as well as from Wales.

The show is held in the Margam Park Orangery (picture) which is one of the biggest buildings of its type in Europe.

Margam Park is sign posted from Junction 38 of the M4, and can be reached in about 2 minutes after leaving the motorway.

Who is it for?                                                                      Top

The South Wales Gift Show is for Manufacturers, Artists, Crafts People, Wholesalers and others to display goods to the Gift and Tourism Industry.

The buyers will be people who sell things to Tourists and Holiday Makers, so they could include those who run Gift Shops, Hotels, Bed and Breakfasts, Camp Sites, Tourist Attractions, other types of business in Tourist Honey-pot areas, Wedding or Party shops and so on.

The goods on show vary from tourist essentials like buckets and spades, post cards, key rings and fridge magnets, through toys, models, cloths, fashion accessories, to works of art. Some businesses also offer suitable items from their 'homes and gardens ranges.

Many Exhibitors will only sell in bulk or will have minimum order charges, while smaller exhibitors will be able to be more flexible perhaps being able to carry out one off commissions. But generally exhibitors intend to sell to other businesses.

Facilities                                                                      Top

The Orangery provides excellent facilities for both exhibitors and buyers. It is well lit, walking and wheel chair access to the stands is good, and stand space generous. Power is available to stands. Toilets and a coffee bar are available in the Orangery. Maintenance is excellent as befits a building that is also used for weddings and civic events.

Exhibitors can park transit vans close to the access doors while setting up and taking down, and vehicles can be parked in the forward car park, which is nearby, during the days of the show.

To book a stand or to learn more about visiting a show as a Trade Buyer, contact Mr. Clive Williams of Cymru Marketing Tel. (01792) 536028)

NB Links in this section (below) are to the Neath / Port Talbot website

The Beautiful Margam Park Estate is run by Neath Port Talbot Council, and visitors to the show have access to the main part of the estate, including the Visitor Centre which is behind the 'castle' (pictured right) which overlooks the Orangery and the old Margam Abbey. (Not to be confused with Margam Stones Abbey which is nearby).

To organise your own event at Margam or to see some very impressive pictures (including a very bendy panorama!) follow links to the Orangery from the  Margam Business page
